Submitting an Abstract

The Scientific Committee for the Liverpool WAAVP 2015 Conference invites you to submit an abstract for presentation at the Conference, to be held at the Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool on 16-20 August 2015.

Conference Themes

The overarching theme for the Conference is ‘Looking to the Future’ and within that theme are 12 topics.

  10. Climate change, epidemiology and modelling
  11. Pharmacology of Antiparasitic Drugs
  12. Lifelong Education (UG and PG)

Presentation Format

All abstracts must be submitted online by the due date – Tuesday, 7th April 2015 (now extended from Friday, 20th March 2015).

The final decision on acceptance and the type of presentation offered will rest with the Scientific Committee.

Oral presentations

15 minute oral presentations in theme sessions. This includes 5 minutes questions and chairs of sessions will ensure that speakers adhere strictly to time.

Poster-plus-oral and Poster Presentations

Authors will submit a poster for display and also have the opportunity to present their key findings in a two minute oral presentation. Presenters should highlight the important components of their poster in a 2 minute oral presentation with a maximum of three slides in specific, structured sessions with a Chair who will introduce each session and facilitate discussion following the poster presentations.


Authors are responsible for providing their posters in the required format and immaculate condition. Posters must be A0 in format and portrait in orientation.

All authors are required to display their posters in allocated areas of the exhibition Hall 2 before 5pm on Sunday 16th August. For any queries regarding posters, please email Anna on anna@happen.co.uk.

Submitting an Abstract – Details for Authors

All abstracts must be submitted online by noon on Tuesday, 7th April 2015 (now extended from Friday, 20th March 2015).

Abstracts must be submitted as Microsoft Word documents. An official WAAVP Abstract Submission Template can be downloaded by clicking here, or the link above. Please use this template and save your abstract before uploading.

Graphics, pictures or graphs should not be submitted.

Once you have submitted your abstract online, you will receive a confirmation email.

You can edit your abstract up until the cut off date of noon on Tuesday, 7th April 2015 (now extended from Friday, 20th March 2015), after which no changes can be made.

Following review by the Committee, authors will be notified of acceptance and type of presentation before the end of April 2015.

Decisions made by Scientific Committee and moderated by the Conference conveners are final. Please see “key dates” for submission and revision deadlines.

Condition of Acceptance

It is a condition of acceptance of the abstract that at least one of the authors must register to attend the Conference and present the paper or poster. Abstracts submitted before payment of registration are eligible for an offer of acceptance (by Monday 4th May 2015) but final acceptance (and publication as a conference abstract) requires registration by the deadline of Monday 18th May 2015. All authors must attend at least the day of their presentation.

Submission of abstracts implies the author’s agreement to publish the abstract in all Conference publications including the website.

Acceptance of abstracts does not imply any payment from the Conference Committee. Authors must arrange and pay their own accommodation, travel etc. to attend the Conference.
